Recording Fees

Effective August 1, 2017

Note: Every document filed for recordation shall be captioned as to type of act on the first page and shall have on the first page a margin of 2 inches at the top and 1 inch at the bottom and sides. The type size shall not be smaller than 8 point. DOCUMENTS ARE TO BE RECORDED 0N 8.5" X 11" OR 8.5" X 14" PAPER A $20.00 PER PAGE FEE WILL BE ASSESSED FOR OVERSIZE PAGES.

About Us
The clerk's office has original records dating back to 1770 when Ascension Parish was known as the "Second Acadian Coast" and there were only 267 settlers. The first original acts on file are the notarial acts of Louis Judice, entitled "Judice-1", which include records from 1770 - 1787. He was the first Spanish Commandant for Ascension Parish and served from 1770 until 1798.
