Passport Information

The Clerk of Court is an acceptance agent for Passport Services. Applications for new passports, renewals and amendments may be obtained from our office. New passports must be processed by the Clerk of Court or the Passport Agency. Renewals may be completed and mailed by the applicant.

Passport Checklist:

• Original Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate
• Driver’s License or State Issued ID – if issued within the last 6 months you will need an additional form of identification
• Passport Picture –  $10.00 if taking in our Gonzales location
• Fees: CHECK OR MONEY ORDER ONLY  for the US Department of State Fee the Clerk of Court fee can be paid by cash, check or card
• $130.00 payable to US Department of State (Adult)
• Expedite fee: Additional $60.00 – Total $190.00
• Overnight Return Delivery: 21.36 – Total $211.36

• $100.00 payable to US Department of State (Minor)

• Expedite Fee: Additional $60.00 – Total $160.00
• Overnight Return Delivery: 21.36 – Total $181.36

• $35.00 processing fee to the Clerk of Court (any form of payment)

• Forms must be filled out in BLACK INK “only” (no scratch outs or white out)
• DO NOT sign application until processing in the Clerk of Court Office
• Processing time:
• Routine: Up to 6-8 weeks (this does not include mailing time)
• Expedite: Up to 2-3 weeks (this does not include mailing time)

Documents needed to obtain a passport for first time applicants: 

A certified copy of applicant's birth certificate, valid driver's license and one passport photo is required to process the application. We offer the option of obtaining the passport photo in our Gonzales Office for an additional $10 fee.

All persons applying for a passport (including infants) must be present during the application process.

U.S. Passport Renewals – This office DOES NOT process renewals, however, we will assist you with filling out the renewal form and making sure that everything is correct before you mail it to the Passport Agency.  The renewal form DS-82 can be picked up at our office or you can print the form from the U.S. Passport Website www.travel.state.gov .  The fee to process a renewal is $130.00.  There is a $60.00 additional fee for expedited service.  You will also need to provide your previous passport book.  Please visit the U.S. Passport Website for further instructions.
