Our mission is to deliver outstanding service while preserving and managing records, as well as facilitating access to legal documents filed in our office. We prioritize exceptional customer service and strive to uphold professionalism, proficiency, and courtesy in all interactions.
Conveniently located in both Donaldsonville and Gonzales, our main office is situated at the Courthouse in Gonzales, with a satellite office in Donaldsonville.
As outlined in the Louisiana Constitution, the duties and responsibilities of the Clerk of Court encompass various crucial roles, including but not limited to serving as Clerk of the District Court and Parish Court, Ex-Officio Recorder of Deeds, Mortgages, and other legal instruments, Chief Elections Officer for the Parish and Custodian of Voting Machines, Ex-Officio Member of the Jury Commission, and Ex-Officio Member of the Board of Supervisors of Elections.
Embracing technological advancements, we are proud to offer an online record search for Mortgage, Conveyance, Maps, Criminal, Traffic, Civil and Marriage records. Access to our Ascension Clerk of Court Electronic Search System (ACCESS) is available through monthly subscriptions or day rates. Each of our offices is equipped with public access computers for retrieving general information on filed records.
Fees collected for recordings, certified copies, and all services related to civil and criminal proceedings are established by statute. It is worth noting that all salaries and expenses of our office are funded through collected fees, rendering the Clerk of Court’s Office entirely self-supporting.
